Facebook Business Manager is the hub of advertising and business management on Facebook. Luckily, there are easy steps to take that will get you up and running quickly.

How to Set up Facebook Business Manager

A Facebook Business Manager account is an absolute must-have for ensuring successful Facebook ad management. This tool is designed to help keep your social team organized and informed about all your Facebook pages and ad accounts. You’ll be able to view who has access to your pages and ad accounts and delegate tasks by assigning them permissions. So let's dive in and take a look at how to set up Facebook Business Manager.

1. Make a Facebook Page for Your Business

You’ll first need to create a page just for your business, so this can’t be a personal profile account. Head to your Facebook profile, click “Pages”, then “Create New Page”. Enter your page name and select the most relevant category. Next, add all your business info, including contact, location, and hours information. Then finish up by choosing an appropriate, clear, and relevant profile photo and cover photo. Now, you can start inviting friends to like your page and start working on your visibility.

2. Access Facebook Business Manager

To access Facebook Business Manager, head to business.facebook.com and follow the prompts to create an account and log in.

Facebook vs Meta, Business Suite vs Business Manager

It’s important to note that Meta Business Suite and Meta Business Manager (previously known as Facebook Business Suite and Facebook Business Manager) are two different tools that both manage Facebook accounts. They each allow you to separate personal page use from professional tasks and collaborations with others. But here are a couple of key differences:

  • Business Manager is easiest to use on desktop—though there is an app with limited capabilities—while Business Suite can be used equally on desktop and mobile.
  • Business Manager controls your Facebook pages and ad accounts only. Business Suite lets you manage both Facebook and Instagram business accounts.

What if You Only Have Access to Business Manager?

Facebook started to allow some businesses to access Business Suite as early as 2020 and has been moving more companies over to it ever since. However, not everyone has access just yet, and it is unclear when it will be available to everyone. If you haven’t been invited to Business Suite, you’ll have to wait it out. But as far as ad management goes, Business Manager has everything you need to run ads effectively.

3. Enter Credit Card Information

In order to start running ads, you’ll need an up-to-date payment method on file. To do this, click on “Settings” at the bottom of the left-hand menu. Then click on “Ad Account Settings”, go to “Payment Settings”, and select “Add Payment Method”. Enter your card information, and you’re good to go!

4. Invite Your Team

If you have a team or partner that’s helping you with ad management, you’ll want to make sure they have access. We recommend that you only assign “Employee Access” unless “Admin Access” is absolutely necessary. This is because admins can change budgets, access credit card info, and edit and delete people and business information, so just be careful of who you trust with this level of access.

To invite your team, click “Settings” in the left-hand navigation menu. Then go to “People”, click “Add People”, enter the person’s email address, and follow the prompts.

5. Set up Your Ad Account

To set up your ad account, open Facebook Business Manager and go to “Business Settings”. A menu will appear on the left side of the screen. Click “Accounts” and then “Ad Accounts”. Click the blue “Add” button and then select “Create a New Ad Account” from the drop-down menu.

Congratulations! You are now able to create and run ads through your Facebook Business Manager.
